Former captain Inzamam ul Haq has been appointed as the new chief selector by Pakistan Cricket Board while Mushtaq Ahmed will take the responsibilities as the new head coach of national academy.
The decision was announced by PCB Chairman Shahriyar Khan in a press conference during which Inzamam was also present. Shahriyar Khan said that Inzmamam is the new chief selector and he will select the other members of committee. There is no issue of a local or foreign head coach for the team while famous coaches are ready to come to Pakistan. They will soon announce the name of head coach while M Akram will be replaced by Mushtaq Ahmed as the new head coach of national academy. The status of National Academy will remain independent.
The chairman added that after Pakistan Cup, they will start a 3 week long boot camp coaching session in Abbottabad. For improvement in overall cricket, they are also trying to promote school cricket. The biomechanical lab remained closed for 8 years but now it has been opened.
Newly appointed coach Inzamam ul Haq said that he would like to serve Pakistan in any way. He is there to accomplish a national responsibility. The PCB has accepted his proposed names for selection panel for which he is grateful for the board. In his team, the other members will be Wajahatullsh Wasti, Tauseef Ahmed and Wasim Haider. He added that opinion of captains and selectors should be accepted while he will try to complete his national responsibility.
