Shahid Afridi announces Retirement from Peshawar Zalmi

Shahid Afridi has left his franchise team Peshawar Zalmi as player and president. It was announced by the player through a tweet as he told that he is leaving the team completely due to personal reasons. In the same tweet, there was a hint that he might be seen playing for another team. He was also hopeful that fans of Peshawar Zalmi will also support him in future.

According to sources, differences with team’s owner Javed Afridi was the reason behind his resignation from the franchise as his undue interference in cricketing maters was not liked by Shahid Afridi. Few months ago, he decided to take that decision but refrained from that as he was abstain from doing so by his elders. On that occasion, he was offered an agreement by two franchises while he is no short of proposals even now while next year’s PSL will also see emergence of 6th team.

According to sources, Shahid Afridi was not happy due to spoiling of his reputation by news of Shah Rukh’s invitation and other such rumors that later proved false and he thought that team administration is spreading these rumors for media attention. These and few other objectionable issued forced him to take this extreme step.
