Kensington Oval Ground was the venue of 1st T20 match in which Pakistan decided to field first after winning the toss. West Indies scored 111 runs for 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs while Pakistan achieved the target after losing 4 wickets in 17.1 overs. Pakistani innings was started by Ahmed Shehzad and Kamran Akmal. At 25, Ahmed Shehzad lost his wicket after scoring 13 runs. Kamran Akmal, M Hafeez and Babar Azam scored 22, 5 and 29 runs respectively.
Shoaib Malik (38) and captain Sarfraz Ahmed (4) scored 20 runs for 5th wicket partnership and the target was achieved in 17.1 overs. Both remained unbeaten. , Jason Holder took 2 wickets while 1 wicket each was taken by Samuel Badree and C Brathwaite respectively. Man of the match award was given to debutant Shadab Khan.
During West Indies’s batting, the inning was started by Lewis and Walton. Lewis was the first wicket when he got run out after scoring 10 runs. Later Samuels (7), Walton (18), K Pollard (18), R Powell (5), L Simmons (01) and S Narine (1) also lost their wickets quickly. The highest scorer was captain who scored 34 runs in 27 balls with 2 sixes and 2 fours.
Shadab took 3 wickets from Pakistan while Imad Wasim, Sohail Tanvir, Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali took 1 wicket each. It was the debut match for Shadab Khan and also the comeback match for Kamran Akmal after 3 years.
