Lahore, the selectors of the national cricket team have prepared the final list of the twenty players and they have handed over this list of the 20 players to the board. The final selection of the 11 players will be made from these 210 players, who will play the one day international matches against West Indies.
Pakistan cricket team was defeated by England in this home series with dreadful defeat recently and there is immense pressure over the selectors and players. They are selecting the best possible players for this ODI tour against West Indies, as Pakistan is already trailing back in the ODI format of cricket and it becomes difficult for Pakistan to retain their position in the coming world cup. The selectors have done their consultation mutually and with the captain, Azhar Ali. The board has also decided to retain Azhar Ali as captain of the national cricket team and he will do the captaincy in the ODI matches against West Indies. Pakistan cricket team will play its first T20i match against West Indies on 23 September in UAE and the name of Mohammad Hafeez has been dropped from the final 20 players list as he is not completely fit to play the coming series against West Indies.
When Pakistan cricket team was defeated by England then most of the senior players have demanded to replace him with the suitable replacement but the board retained him as captain in the coming series. The board has made it clear to the selection committee that the captaincy of the national team will rest with Azhar Ali and board did not have intention to replace him. The series against West Indies will comprise of three ODIs, three T20i matches and three test matches and the current series will be started from 23 September and at the end of the series the test matches will be played.
