The highest opening partnership from Pakistan against India in ICC events has been made by Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali.

This recent match was played at the Oval where 128 runs opening partnership stand was provided by Fakhar Zaman and Azhar Ali in 23 overs. Azhar Ali scored 59 runs in 71 runs with 1 six and 6 fours before getting run out while Zaman scored his maiden hundred in ODI while scoring 114 runs in 106 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes.

The previous record of 84 runs partnership against India was made by Saeed Anwar and Aamer Sohail in 1996 ODI World Cup quarter final match that was won by India by 39 runs. In ODI WC 2003, both teams played their match in Centurion during which opening partnership of 58 runs was provided by Taufiq Umar and Saeed Anwar but India remained victorious with 6 wickets. In the latest tournament, Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad scored 47 runs for 1st wicket partnership and India easily won the match by 124 runs.
