The Hagley Oval ground of Christchurch was the venue of this test match in which New Zealand is batting at 104 for the loss of 3 wickets after ending the 1st Pakistani innings for just 133 runs. M Amir, Sohail Khan and rahat Ali took the 1st, 2nd and 3rd wicket respectively. Tom Latham (01), Kane Williamson (04) and Ross Taylor (11) lost their wickets while Henry Nicholls (29) and Jeet Raval (55) are still batting at the crease.
At the start of play, Kane Williamson elected to field first after winning the toss. Pakistan lost its 1st wicket at 31 when Azhar Ali got out after scoring 15 runs. The wickets fell continuously and the team could only score 133 runs in their 1st innings. Apart from Azhar, the other three batsmen who scored in double figures include captain Misbah ul Haq (31), Sami Aslam (19) and Asad Shafiq (16).
For New Zealand team, Colim Grandhomme was the star with 6 wickets on debut while 2 wickets each were taken by Trent Boult and Tim Southee.
