Brisbane, Pakistan played first day and night test match against Australia and the host team gave the target of 490 runs to Pakistan to achieve this target in over two days. Pakistani team responded well and scored the targeted score. The initial batsmen showed some resistance and Azhar Ali and Younis Khan scored 71 and 65 runs respectively. But these batsmen were got out at about 200 runs and the last four batsmen of Pakistani side started their resistance and they scored about 230 runs on the loss of four wickets. During the last four wickets, Pakistan made three fifty partnerships so that they can get the target score. This is the new record to score huge runs in the fourth inning of any test match. Pakistan also made the record of the difference of the scores of the first inning and the second inning. Pakistan scored 142 runs in first inning and it also scored 450 runs in the second inning, thus the difference of the first inning and the second inning become 308, which is the second highest difference of the first and second inning.

Pakistan played the test match in Bridge Town in 1957 and all team was out just for 106 runs and in the second inning, Pakistan scored 657 runs in which the memorable triple century of Hanif Muhammad and this was the biggest difference of the first and second inning of a test match.

Asad Shafique scored 137 runs in the fourth inning in the Gaba cricket stadium and before him, Sunil Gawaskar scored 113 runs in 1977/78 runs and Sharon Campbell scored 113 runs in 1996/97. This is the third biggest inning of a batsman playing at six or low numbers to chase the target and this is the third biggest total from any batsman. Before this, Adam Gilchrist scored 149 runs in 1999 in the Hobart test match playing against Pakistan and Daniel Vettori scored 140 runs in the Colombo test match in 2009.

Australia cricket team defeated in the last test match in 1988 at Gaba Stadium against West Indies and after that it did not lose any match on this ground. After that, total 28 test matches have been played on this cricket ground in which Australia won 22 test matches and 6 matches remained undecided.
