For captaincy of national team in ICC World Cup 2015, no final decision has been taken so far. The rest of Misbah in 3rd ODI and conditional support of PCB Chairman in was very strange. Shahid Afridi has told the administration of board that he should be told earlier about captaining the team in case the responsibility is given to him. On the other hand, Misbah said that he’ll only remain in the team if he scores runs as Pakistan is more important for him.
PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan said that the final decision about captaincy will be by Misbah himself and board has already prepared a strategy if he resigns from captaincy. Misbah said that he’s not thinking about resigning from ODI captaincy but runs are important and he’s looking for next three or four test matches. Misbah says that he’ll try his best to regain his form because team needs experience in the world cup.
He said that it was his personal decision not to play the 3rd ODI and there are no differences in the team. He was out of form which was bad for team and therefore he himself requested Afridi and team management.
Apart from that, Afridi said that in case given the captaincy, he should be told beforehand. He said captaincy of national team is very difficult job.
PCB Chairman said that PCB is considering different options about captaincy of team but Misbah will decide himself about his availability for ODI captaincy. PCB decided to keep Misbah captain of ODI team till 2015 World Cup, prior to that.
Afridi said that the chances of team in 2015 World Cup have dimmed due to whitewash defeat against Australia in UAE. He said with this kind of performance, they can’t go to play the next world cup in Australia and New Zealand.
