The national chief selector, Inzamam ul Haq of the Pakistan cricket board has completed his consultation with the captain of the national team, Sarfaraz Ahmed and the head coach, Mickey Arthur and he announced the 16 members squad for the ODI series against South Africa.
Haris Sohail, Junaid Khan and Asif Ali have been dropped from the national squad due to different reasons. The players like Shan Masood, Muhammad Rizwan and Muhammad Amir have been inducted in the national squad. Hussain Talat has shown the consistent performance in the T20s and domestic cricket and he is also named in the national squad. Sarfaraz Ahmed is retained as captain of the national team while the senior batsmen of the team are Muhammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik. The former ODI squad has been retained and minor changes have been made in the team. Pakistani will play five ODI matches against South Africa and the first ODI will be played between Pakistan vs South Africa on 19 January 2019 at Port Elizabeth.
