Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament is played in Malaysia every year and Pakistan has been playing this event since its beginning regularly and Pakistan also won this event many time. The event management committee of Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament announced that the event of Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament will be started from 27th April and the final of the event will be played on 06 May 2017. The management committee has dropped the name of Pakistani hockey teams from the list of the participant teams. Instead they include the name of Britain team in the list to play this tournament. This event will be played in Epoh, Malaysia and the participants of the tournament will be Malaysia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Australia, India and Japan.
Pakistan Hockey Federation approached to Asian Hockey Federation that they should play their part in including the name of Pakistan in the participants of this event. They took the stand that Pakistan has been playing Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament since its beginning and it has right to be included in the list of the participants. Pakistan won the 5th position out of 7 total participants of Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament last year.
