ICC has granted test status to Afghanistan and Ireland. Counsel Meeting of International Cricket Council was held in London during which Afghanistan and Ireland were given the status of full members by consensus. Both these teams will be able to play test cricket due to applications of new members by Membership Committee according to the new procedure.

Chief Executive of Afghan Cricket Board, Shafiq Stanikzai, said that it is an important milestone for Afghan nation and the whole nation is celebrating this occasion. It is like Eid before Eid.

The committee has ended affiliation membership with ICC. All the affiliated members are given the status of associate members. Now, there will be only full and associate members. Along with that, voting system of ICC Board has also changed and now votes of all (full and associate) members will be equal. Passing of any resolution will require 2/3 majority.
